After a day of boys basketball finals, the Frontier League officially has four teams that were named section champions. Lyme and Lowville earned banners Sunday at the Carrier Dome, but in very different fashions. Lyme won close game versus DeRuyter in the Class D finals that came down to the final minute, while Lowville blew out General Brown in the Class B finals.

General Brown and Lowville, two Frontier League heavyweights, will hold their fourth and final battle of the 2018-19 season this afternoon when they face off against each other in the Section 3 Class B boys basketball final at the Carrier Dome. The Lowville Red Raiders lead the season series 2-1 with the most recent victory coming on Feb. 9 in the Frontier League “B” Division final, a 69-50 thumping of the Lions.

Lowville shot better than 50-percent from three in the Red Raiders 77-47 victory over General Brown in the Section 3 boys Class B finals. While Hudson White has been known as the Red Raiders’ top marksman, it was Aidan Zehr who proved he couldn’t miss, Sunday. The sophomore finished 6-of-8 from three and with a total of 21 points.

Alyssa Stevenson has had this dream since she was 11, to celebrate on the court at the Carrier Dome with her South Jefferson teammates after winning the Section 3 championship. Now, in her senior season, she can finally say she fulfilled that dream as the Spartans defeated Westhill in the Section 3 girls Class B title game, 54-50.

Three Frontier League boys basketball teams took the trip to Onondaga Community College in Syracuse for Saturday’s Section 3 semifinals and all three advanced to take another trip to Syracuse for the sectional championships.

A second half comeback pushed Lyme past Hamilton 63-51 in the Section 3 Class D boys basketball semifinals Saturday at Onondaga Community College. Entering the second half trailing 33-24, Tyler Wilson hit a couple of corner 3-pointers to help spark the Lyme offense. Wilson finished with a team-high 20 points while Isaiah Wilson and Damon Blaha had 18 points each.

Despite relinquishing a second-half, double-digit lead, General Brown held on in the fourth quarter to defeat Skaneateles in the Section 3 Class B semifinals, 71-65 Saturday at Onondaga Community College. Kyle Nichols led the scoring for the Lions with 25 points, followed by 19 from Carter Rosbrook and 17 from Jake Heller.
